Dr. Feng’s research interests focus on nanomechanical characterization and modeling, with particular emphasis on comprehensive understandings of mechanical behavior of nanomaterials and biomaterials through experimental techniques and theoretical modeling. His research is also aimed at the rational design of nanomaterials and nanostructures based on the fundamental principles. Dr. Feng has solved a long-standing contact mechanics problem: the elastoplastic contact stress field. He also provided unique methods for characterizing nanowires and biomaterials. His research has been published (with total citations over 160) in Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids (JMPS), Acta Materialia, Scripta Materialia, Journal of Applied Physics (JAP), Journal of Materials Research (JMR), and other journals. As an expert in the areas of nanomaterials and nanomechanics, Dr. Feng has served as reviewer for over 14 journals, such as Nano Letters, JMPS, JAP, JMR, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Philosophical Magazine, Thin Solid Films, Journal of Materials Science, Surface and Coatings Technology, International Journal of Solids and Structures, and Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering. |
